At 21:48 hours Dumont PD starting receiving 9-1-1 calls reporting a fire in an apartment at 206 Manhattan Terrace. Chief Byrd (210) arrived on scene and reported he had smoke showing from the multi-family home. Chief Molinaro (211) arrived on scene as well. Engine 3 was first due and was ordered to enter the structure with Car 211 and investigate the source of the smoke. Shortly after entering crews located the fire burning through a bedroom door on the first floor. Car 211 requested a line to be stretched. Chief Byrd confirmed a working fire and requested Tenafly FD Ladder 1 for the FAST Team. Engine 1 arrived second due and stretched a line to assist with the fire attack. Engine 4 secured a hydrant for Engine 1. Engine 5's crew assisted in opening up the fire room checking for extension. Truck 2 arrived on scene and began ventilating the structure. Rescue 3 conducted primary and secondary searches in the structure and secured the utilities. The fire was knocked down quickly preventing it from spreading past the inside doorway area of the bedroom.
